The first thing that came to mind when I first heard the First Communion Afterparty was: whatever became of my sister’s purple crushed velvet hip hugger bell bottoms circa 1970? These were the perfect pants to be listening to this tripadelica to. There’s a lot to be said about having the right pants. But no matter what you’re wearing, or not wearing, you should get your butt down to the Turf for this one. The noisy, fun garage rock sound of The Goondas, the big sound of two -Red Pens, and the throbbing mass of the gritty Hastings 3000 make this one heck of a rocking extravaganza.
